David E. McGinnis

Dr. McGinnis received his bachelor’s degree, cum laude, from Harvard College in Cambridge, and his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He served both his general surgery and urology residencies at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. He completed a fellowship in minimally invasive urologic oncology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.

Dr. McGinnis received his bachelor’s degree, cum laude, from Harvard College in Cambridge, and his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He served both his general surgery and urology residencies at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. He completed a fellowship in minimally invasive urologic oncology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
Dr. McGinnis is a clinical assistant professor of urology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and was on the full-time faculty at Jefferson before moving his practice to Bryn Mawr. He has served as secretary and then president of the Philadelphia Urologic Society. He has extensive experience with laparoscopic and robotic surgery and was the first surgeon in Philadelphia to perform many laparoscopic procedures, including laparoscopic radical prostatectomy and laparoscopic pyeloplasty. He also was the first Philadelphia surgeon to perform more than 20 robotic prostatectomies.
Dr. McGinnis currently serves as chief of urology at Bryn Mawr Hospital.
